Cheltenham (or even Cheltenham Spa) occurs as spa town and borough in Gloucestershire, England, near Gloucester and Cirencester. the town has a people of 110,013 (2001 census). A town catchword is: Salubritas et Eruditio ("Health and Education").

A town is placed on the edge of the Cotswolds & is generally look upon respectable and affluent. It has been a health & holiday spa town resort since the discovery of mineral springs there in 1716. A pipes providing water system from either a spring decayed within 2004, but it were reinstated within 2005 and the spring waters come flowing over again. These are popular as a quality looking centre, & is at home to many emporium, including Cavendish House, part of the Home of Fraser chain. These are too known for its common soldier schools: Dean Close School, Cheltenham College and the Cheltenham Ladies' College. These are too residence to the prestigious Pate's Grammar School, and to campuses of the University of Gloucestershire. Cheltenham track hosts the Cheltenham Gold Ventral suction cup - a premier horse racing event attracting brobdingnagian crowds from either through England and Ireland.

In August 3, 1990, Cheltenham recorded a temperature of 37.1°C (98.8°F), a greatest ever temperature in the United Kingdom until 2003.

Horse racing

Internationally, Cheltenham is probably better known for its horse racing. Cheltenham Racecourse, located on the fringe of the town in the suburbia of Prestbury, is the home of National Hunt, or jumps, racing in the UK. Meetings come hosted whilst you took a wintertime months (when a ground is easy plenty for a horses to safely negotiate the fences) from either November to April. A highlight of the year is the Cheltenham Gold Cup, which is normally held in the midst of March, during a Cheltenham Festival. This happy co-incidence (by using St Patrick's Day) ensures that the town swells with an influx of Irish horseracing devotees. Cheltenham has the total of lightly industries, including food processing, aerospace, electronics & touristry. A British government's electronic surveillance operation GCHQ, renowned for its 'doughnut-shape' building, is located in Cheltenham.

Cheltenham Spa railway station is located on the independent Bristol-Birmingham line, giving modems to Gloucester, Bristol, Swindon, London Paddington, Plymouth and the South West, Birmingham, Derby, a N West, the Northward East & Scotland.

Noted humans from either Cheltenham include a composer Gustav Holst; the explorer Edward Wilson (who joined Scott on his ill-fated Antarctic Expedition); physician Edward Jenner who invented vaccination; Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones; Duncan Boyes, and poet James Elroy Flecker.
